story of a sustainable living

Five men sitting on a ledge outside a rural hut.

We begins from the ground in 1999 , in Anjunad ethnic village and forests

  • Funded in 1999, Kerala Geographic Adventures is a natural history and wildlife travel organisation specialising in small-group, expert-led explorations across South India and the Western Ghats. For more than 25 years, we have designed journeys that go beyond conventional wildlife tourism, combining biodiversity, landscapes, birds, archaeology, indigenous knowledge, and living cultural traditions.
  • Our expeditions range from tiger and elephant landscapes to rainforest birding, walking safaris, jungle camps, Sky Island hikes, prehistoric sites, UNESCO World Heritage journeys, and cultural landscapes. Rather than simply moving between destinations, we help travellers understand how wildlife, forests, mountains, rivers, communities, and cultures are interconnected.
  • Our journeys are intentionally small and personalised. Explorer programmes emphasise walking, wilderness camps, field observation, and natural history, while Leisure programmes combine wildlife experiences with carefully selected resorts and comfortable stays.
  • Conservation remains central to our philosophy. We believe responsible wildlife tourism should respect animals, habitats, local communities, and the carrying capacity of fragile ecosystems.
  • Every journey is guided by decades of field experience and a simple principle: explore landscapes, understand nature, experience conservation.

We grow with our friends and partners

  •  Our journeys have grown through long-standing relationships with local communities, naturalists, forest guides, conservation practitioners, researchers, responsible accommodation providers, and travel partners. Over the years, we have provided training and encouraged their active participation in responsible tourism and conservation. By sharing knowledge, creating opportunities, and valuing local expertise, we help our partners grow alongside us while ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach the people and places we explore

Conservation, Research & Field Initiatives

  •  For us, exploration is the beginning of understanding, not the end of a journey. Our field experiences have led to research and documentation in biodiversity, wildlife, traditional environmental knowledge, archaeology, rock art, and cultural landscapes. We share our findings through publications, training, seminars, and public outreach, while working with local communities and conservation partners. We believe that informed exploration can create greater appreciation, encourage responsible tourism, and contribute to the long-term protection of nature and heritage.

Extended our connectivity to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa and Madhya Pradesh

  •  Over the years, our field activities have expanded beyond Kerala to explore the diverse landscapes of South and Central India. We conduct wildlife, birding, walking, natural history, and heritage expeditions across major destinations in the Western Ghats of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa, along with selected wildlife landscapes of Madhya Pradesh. Each destination is approached through its distinctive ecology, wildlife, culture, and natural history, allowing us to create specialised journeys based on the character of each landscape. .

Recoganised for our works

  •  Our work in wildlife interpretation, sustainable tourism, field research, and conservation has received recognition from the travel and conservation community. In 2023, our founder was honoured with the Best Sustainability Wildlife Guide – India Award by TOFTigers. His work has also been recognised through invitations to contribute to research, conferences, training programmes, and heritage and conservation initiatives across India. These recognitions encourage us to continue exploring responsibly and sharing our knowledge with others.  .

Our Contribution to Heritage Studies , Conservation & Heritage Tourism

  •   Our exploration extends beyond wildlife and biodiversity into the cultural and archaeological heritage of South India. Over the years, we have documented rock art, prehistoric sites, megalithic monuments, traditional landscapes, and indigenous cultural practices, particularly across the Western Ghats and adjoining regions. Our research and field studies have contributed to a better understanding of these lesser-known heritage resources, while our work in sustainable heritage tourism promotes responsible interpretation, conservation awareness, and meaningful participation of local communities. Today, our heritage journeys connect travellers with both the tangible and living heritage of South India.
