Kabini is the name of a river flowing through the South east of Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka, forming a common boundary between Nagarhole, Bandipur and Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary. The Kabini Reservoir, formed after the construction of a dam provide source of water and food for the animals throughout the year. Since it is the backdrop for rich biodiversity, it became a grand niche for the breeding of different life forms including Asiatic elephants, Tiger, leopard , winter bids etc. It is absorbing a good number of thriving big cats population by providing ample supply of food and habitat. The faunal diversity of Kabni from its healthy ecosystem makes it as one of the big cat’s habitat in the world. The density of ungulates in the area is ranging from 35 to 42 per sqkm.
